The MICDS community took time to reflect on what they are thankful for this holiday season. Students shared their thoughts on what they are most grateful for, from friendships to impactful opportunities.
“I’m thankful for my family and friends. I’m also thankful for my teachers as they’ve sacrificed time for me and supported me,” Nick Weaver ‘27 said.
“I’m thankful for my friends and family also,” Daniel Kuhlman ‘27 said.
Members of the junior class shared similar sentiments.
“I’m thankful for the opportunities I have to grow as a student, learn new things, and spend time with my friends,” Cole Levison ‘26 said. “I’m also thankful for my wonderful friends…we have a really good grade, and there are a lot of wonderful people, and I’m really glad to have them.”
“I’m thankful for how willing the teachers are to help us because when I don’t understand, there’s a lot of time to meet with them one-on-one, and they’re super helpful with that,” Harrison Foster ‘26 said.
Aaheli Arora ‘26 agreed. “Even in class, if I have a question, my teachers are never unwilling to help us,” Arora said.
“I am grateful for the welcoming community with all the nice people that go here,” G.T. Cozad ‘25 added.
Each year, MICDS organizes the Turkey Train, and Shritha Devisetty ‘26, Community Service Committee cohead, shared her thoughts on giving back during the winter season. “I’m really thankful for the inclusive community we have here and how much of an effort we put towards serving the community, and how much care we have to help others in need. We know we are privileged people, but we also understand that not everyone has the great opportunities that we have, so I think that the way we give back is really great,” Devisetty said. “We spend a lot of time working on the Turkey Train, making sure everything is done on time to make sure everything ends up with the right people. Gratefulness is giving back to the community, especially around the holiday time, and that’s why it’s important,” Devisetty said.
